There Are Stars/Yesh Kokhav
There are stars whose radiance reaches the earth only when they themselves are extinguished and are no more. There are people the splendor of whose remembrance lights the world, while they are no longer among us. These lights - those that brightly shine in the darkness of the night - they illuminate for humanity the way.
A poem by Hannah Senesh, 1921-44, Jewish poet and anti-fascist resistance fighter killed by the Nazis. Translated from the original Hebrew by Rabbi Binyamin Biber.
